The firm and members of our staff have a significant and extensive background in healthcare design. Goff D Antonio has completed many healthcare projects ranging from acute care facilities to medical office buildings.
Goff D Antonio recently completed a Hybrid Operating Room for Roper Hospital in association with Gresham Smith and Partners and has been involved in many projects for Trident Hospital at both the main hospital and the Summerville Trident Hospital. The firm is currently involved in work at the new medical office building at Trident Summerville Hospital.

Out Patient Diagnostic Center This project was the design for a 16,540 sq. ft. facility to house emergency services, radiology, laboratory, registration, physical therapy and community/conference group therapy spaces. |

Orthopedic-Neurology/6th Floor Renovation This project was the renovation of the Orthopedic and Neurology floor of Trident Medical Center. The Ortho/Neuro department is located on the 6th floor and is approximately 20,000sf. The design included the addition of a new waiting area and coffee bar at the entrance to the 6th floor and main nurse station renovation. The design included the addition of a nurse substation along one wing of the floor. |

Operating Room Renovations / Labor and Delivery This project involved the redesign and renovation of the existing Labor-Delivery operating rooms at Trident Medical Center as well as the redesign of the Medical Prep Area and other support spaces. Each OR was enlarged and received new lighting, sheet vinyl flooring, cabinetry, wall mounted computer stations, IPOD docking stations, and in-ceiling speakers. |

Labor and Delivery Suite Renovation This Trident Medical Center project involved the renovation of the Labor and Delivery wing which comprises approximately 7,000 square feet on the second floor. The first phase introduced new finishes and bathrooms to five of the Labor and Delivery Rooms. The second phase included the total renovation of four Labor and Delivery rooms to meet current DHEC regulations and to create a spa-like feel to their birthing areas. Phase three concentrated on bringing the public and employee areas up-to-date, including new casework at the Nurses' Station, new paint and handrails in the corridors, and a new Nurses' Break Room. |

Interior Standards for Public Areas This project involved the design and selection of new interior finishes for the public area of Trident Medical Center which would be used as standards for future renovations. |
Roper Saint Francis Hospital |
Hybrid Operating Room This project at Roper Hospital involved the addition of a Hybrid Operating Room with necessary support spaces on the fifth floor of the Heart and Vascular Tower at the east end adjacent and connected to the existing Cardiac/Vascular Operating Rooms. The project is approximately 2000 sq. ft. in area. The firm worked in association with Gresham Smith and Partners as design consultant, and GBA as medical equipment planner. |

Children's After Hours Clinic This project involved tenant upfit plans for MUSC - Children's After Hours in a multi-tenant office building designed by the firm for a local dermatologist. MUSC occupies the entire first floor of roughly 5,500 sq. ft. The space includes: waiting area, business office/reception, ten exam/treatment rooms, radiology, nurses work areas, doctor’s office, restrooms, practice manager's office and staff support space. Unique features of the plan include wider corridors for easy access to all exam/procedure rooms and x-ray, bright colors and accent colors for each exam room, and young children's play/discovery area within the waiting area. |

Ambulatory Care - Tenant Upfit This was the tenant upfit design and construction documents for seven medical suites varying from 1500 to 6000 sq. ft. for various practices and specialties including: Ophthalmology, Urology, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, Family Practice, and OB-GYN. These suites included: waiting/reception areas, business offices, exam and treatment rooms, laboratories, nurse’s stations, physician offices, restrooms, staff lounges and other ancillary and support spaces. |

This project was a two-story, 12,000 sq. ft. medical office building. Coastal Dermatology occupies the entire second floor, and leases space on the ground floor to Peds After Hours, a Medical University of South Carolina Pediatrics Clinic. The space plan for Coast Dermatology includes separate waiting areas for clinical and cosmetic skin treatments, exam rooms, laser treatment rooms, laboratory, nurse's work areas, and support space. |
Dental Smart Clinics |
The firm developed conceptual prototype plans which became the basis of developing specific designs for specific sites for multiple dental clinics in South Carolina and Georgia. The clinics vary in size, but typically are around 3,000 square feet, and are site-adapted for each location, typically located in commercial shopping centers or similar location. Plans include patient waiting/reception, treatment clinical areas with multiple chairs, business office, lab and support space. Dermatology and Laser Center |
The firm designed a contemporary 6,150 sq. ft. medical office building for the new Dermatology and Laser Center of Charleston practice on a site along Henry Tecklenburg Drive. The site has various constraints including a sanitary sewer easement, wetland, an historic civil war mound and moat, and a large grand tree which had to be preserved. The plan includes ten procedure/exam rooms, a Mohs laboratory, laser treatment rooms, medispa, triage, staff support areas, private offices, administrative area, waiting reception and patient support areas. The building is divided into two basic areas; clinical and cosmetic treatment with medispa, the reception/waiting area accessible to both functional areas. Special consideration was given to both doctor and staff convenience coupled with ease of patient flow. |
Ellis Oaks Medical Office ParkJames Island, South Carolina |
This project involved the design of two medical office buildings totaling 19,500 sq. ft. in a 3-acre office park on James Island. The first building of 6,500 sq. ft. was the first of three buildings. The building was a dermatologist's office with space for an additional tenant and/or future expansion space. This single-story building was designed to have a low country/island look with wide overhangs, Bahama shutters, hipped roof with gable accents, and a welcoming porch at the entry. The second building included a pharmacy and a pediatric medical practice. |
Facial Surgery CenterCharleston, South Carolina |
This project was a new facility for Facial Surgery Center to be located in West Ashley near Roper St. Francis Hospital. The design included both clinical areas and a procedure area to perform facial plastic surgery. The facility was approximately 6,700 sq. ft. with an additional 2,000 sq. ft. of planned tenant space for future expansion. The design required saving a grand oak tree in the middle of the site which resulted in a plan that wraps the building around the tree on three sides. The contemporary design features a round nautilus shaped reception/waiting/business area as the central focus for the building and a separate entrance for the procedure wing of the building. The design incorporated many sustainable design features including solar shading, high efficiency light fixtures and sustainable materials. |
Germain Dermatology Office BuildingMount Pleasant, South Carolina |
This 16,000 sq. ft. building houses a dermatology practice on the second floor with additional business office space on the first floor. The remainder of the space on the first floor was designed for their spa/life style cosmetic practice catering to specialized skin treatments including laser, cool sculpting and other facial treatments. |
Roper Berkeley CenterMoncks Corner, South Carolina |
Roper Berkeley Center is a satellite healthcare facility for Berkeley County, which was developed and owned by Roper Healthcare. The project was an 18,600 sq. ft. free standing ambulatory care facility and related medical office building, which was the first phase of a multi-phased project. This ambulatory facility contains registration areas for emergency room and outpatient services, physical therapy, radiology, psychiatric room and laboratory/conference area. Future phases include an outpatient surgery center and pharmacy. The complex was designed to allow development of the complex into a full-service acute care hospital. |

This medical office building contained four physician suites with a common reception waiting area in a total area of approximately 7,800 sq. ft. The building was designed to complement the architecture of the adjacent outpatient diagnostic/treatment facility, which would serve patients for radiological and laboratory tests. |

Surgical Associates of CharlestonCharleston, South Carolina |
This project was an 8,000 sq. ft. freestanding medical office for a group of five surgeons. The project, located on Albermarle Road in Charleston, is in the City Board of Architectural Review’s jurisdiction. Elements in the building included: vaulted reception/waiting area, five exam rooms, a procedure room, laboratory, business office, large records/file room, individual doctor’s offices, and support spaces. The building is a contemporary design with brick, glass and aluminum panels. Tubular brackets support the wide overhangs at the reception/waiting space. |
Trident Medical CenterNursery Renovations |
The nursery renovation at Trident Medical Center involved the design for a Level IIE nursery in their existing second floor nursery space. The design included space for 14 newborn babies with 5 of those spaces accommodating intermediate and/or intensive care neonates. The program and design provided a new family waiting area, a renovated main nurses station with several small satellite nurse stations, and addition of a private lactation and consultation room. Interior finishes were selected to promote a bright and lively environment that would encourage and promote the development of the newborn babies. |
